Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA) held a successful open day at its ‘Life Begins’ independent living scheme for older people in Usk, Plas Mawr. With tea, coffee, mince pies and Christmas cakes on the menu, the coffee morning was a chance for people interested in renting one of the three available flats to meet staff, current residents and see first-hand the accommodation available.
With each of the three flats on offer slightly different in size and layout, the open day provided a fantastic opportunity for the prospective tenants to see and get a feel for each flat and communal areas. Along with getting a sense of the community spirit and what life at Plas Mawr is like from current residents.
The event proved a great success with many people coming to visit the scheme bringing friends and family along. The morning was an even greater success for one gentleman who signed up for one of the available flats on the spot.
The independent living scheme provides apartments specifically designed for the over 60s and aims to provide affordable, high quality and comfortable homes. Plas Mawr is ideally located in the centre of Usk with shops, GP surgeries and other local amenities on the door step.
MHA Housing Trainee Hannah said: “The coffee morning gave us a great opportunity to showcase what Plas Mawr has to offer tenants from homely, comfortable apartments to a welcoming community. The turnout for the event was good and was a fantastic opportunity for attendees to find out more about the scheme by chatting to existing tenants and viewing the apartments.”
“It was an enjoyable morning for attendees, current tenants and staff.”
