Entering its sixth consecutive round of pitches Monmouthshire Housing Association’s Pitch for your Project is back! A community focused grant scheme where twice a year projects that are passionate about building stronger communities and having a positive impact on Monmouthshire Housing tenants, are able to apply for a share of £12,000.

With the scheme helping over 45 community groups and already having paid out nearly £80,000 in grants MHA are looking for this year’s worthy causes. The project must have an objective to deliver a wide range of benefits to the community such as economic, social, health and wellbeing, educational or cultural. The pitch can be for additional funding to help a community group with equipment or materials, venue hire to hold community events, musical instruments, production of a newsletter or podcast, the possibilities are endless but all with the same end goal, helping to build better communities to support not only our MHA tenants but their neighbours too.

Over the years MHA have provided funding support to help bring to life Abergavenny’s first Pride event and enabled a community garden to install a fence to ensure the safety and longevity of their garden.

Velha Bataria from the Samba Band who won their pitch said “The monies received from MHA meant we could buy new instruments for our band, this has also allowed us to have more instruments for new members that have joined after seeing us perform locally.”

Clare Evans from Monmouthshire Housing Association who plays a key role in the Pitch for Your Project scheme said “I have been managing the Pitch Project for two years now and have seen such a variety of community groups coming through that are having such a positive impact on the community. Now more than ever we need to help local community groups progress to enhance their communities. It is a privilege to be part of this project and watch the winning groups go from strength to strength.”
