MHA’s 2025 Christmas Appeal, launched to support families facing financial hardship, provided 100 children in the county with gifts over the festive season.
Thanks to the generosity of local businesses, donors, and volunteers, every child referred to the appeal received a sack of toys from Mission Christmas and a £30 gift card, giving families the flexibility to choose gifts. Mission Christmas donated an incredible £5,000 worth of toys, while gift card donations totalled over £3,000. MHA also contributed £500 in food vouchers to help families enjoy the season.
Families referred to the appeal were either already receiving financial support from the Financial Inclusion team or received an initial appointment in the new year to explore sustainable financial solutions.
One parent shared their gratitude:
I just wanted to say thank you for taking a massive weight off my mind this Christmas. I would not have been able to do much for my kiddies at all this year, but we have so much to be grateful for now. It’s also enabled me to visit my parents’ grave, something I rarely manage due to financial struggles. We’ve had oil, food, and beautiful gifts for my little ones, and for the first time since losing my mum, I’ve been able to relax.
Local businesses played a vital role in making the appeal a success. Some of the outstanding donations included £500 from AP Waters Building, £300 from Freemanz Flooring, £200 from MSH Building Ltd, £100 from Orestone, £100 from Careium, and £1,175 from an annual anonymous donor.
Volunteers worked tirelessly behind the scenes to collect and sort toys, organise and deliver donations across Monmouthshire, and ensure every child received age-appropriate gifts.
MHA thanks everyone who donated, volunteered, and supported the appeal. Nadine Fletcher, Inclusion Manager at MHA said:
We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved through this year’s Christmas Appeal. The generosity of our community and local businesses has made a real difference to families who needed support the most. This is about more than gifts, it’s about giving families hope and joy at a time that can be very difficult.
