We were delighted to recently welcome Monmouthshire County Council’s Leader to our newly completed housing development on the former Rockfield Farm site in Undy.
Cllr Mary Ann Brocklesby was joined by Magor East & Undy ward members, Cllr John Crook and Cllr Angela Sandles, to hear more about the project and view the finished homes.
The development, located on Silurian Road, began in 2024 and was delivered in close collaboration with Monmouthshire County Council, supported by Social Housing Grant funding from Welsh Government.
The homes include a mix of 1, 2, and 3-bedroom properties available across several tenures to meet a wide range of local housing needs. All properties are lowcarbon and netzero ready, incorporating technologies such as heat pumps and solar panels. Each home has achieved an EPC rating of A, significantly reducing inuse energy demand and greenhouse gas emissions.

I was delighted to visit this fabulous new housing estate in Rockfield in Undy. Affordable, energy efficient and mixed housing is just what we need, particularly in this part of the County. There are a great range of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom homes, beautifully landscaped giving a sense of community. A home and a place that anybody would want to move to!
The result of an excellent partnership between MCC, MHA and Harpers, working together to shape and build a new community in the South of Monmouthshire.
Throughout construction, the site was sensitively designed around the existing Site of Importance for Nature Conservation known as “Breezy Bank”, with enhancements introduced to support local ecology and biodiversity.
In addition to providing new homes, the project has delivered wider benefits for the community through MHA’s Community Benefit Funding. Through this scheme, contractors contribute towards initiatives that support the local community alongside the main works.
J. Harper & Sons allocated £36,000 of funding, which was distributed to local organisations and groups through a community voting process, ensuring the residents were able to choose what matters most to them.

The partnership working on this project has been excellent, and we’re looking forward to working with the J Harper & Sons on the forthcoming development of the former Caldicot School site.
