Monmouthshire Housing Association (MHA) are delighted to award Tintern Festivals Association (TFA) £500.00 towards their annual village fete.

Tintern Festivals Association comprise a group of passionate local people who come together to help make beautiful Tintern an even better place to live and are responsible for organising the annual Village fete, that took place on Saturday 23 June.

Kate Fitzpatrick, Head of Corporate Services said

“Our corporate sponsorship fund was created to support local groups, operating in our communities, just like TFA.

We are thrilled the fete was a roaring success, scorching weather and a winning combo of fun, history and Vikings! with the iconic Abbey as its backdrop – it sounds perfect”.

John Livermore, Treasurer at TFA said

“We are very appreciative of MHA’s support for our community event.

This annual event supplements a very exciting time for Tintern with the renovation of St Michaels Church, the opening of the Wireworks Bridge and a brand new children’s playground.”

The chosen theme “The Vikings” paid homage to their visit to Tintern and the surrounding Wye Valley many years ago and was creatively embedded throughout the day’s celebrations. With a plethora of interesting stalls, live music, thought-provoking activities, delicious refreshments and let’s not forget… Viking Visitors! The event was seasoned with history, fun and education, uniting the community.

TFA’s purpose is to enhance the ”social, cultural, economic and environmental life of Tintern and the surrounding area by organising community events such as the Fete”. This aligned perfectly with the purpose of MHA’s Sponsorship fund.
