How you can get involved

At MHA we aim to provide good quality homes and services that adapt to your changing needs.

We are committed to listening to your views on the services we provide and the decisions we make. We can offer you a number of ways to let us know what you think.

These range from meeting you in your community at a community event, you can join MHA’s Virtual Voice Facebook page or you can take part in more formal activities, such as the Service Testing team, Tenants’ Scrutiny Panel or you can apply to be a tenant board member on MHA’s Board.

Our online communities and groups

Join us online! If you find it difficult to get out and about, why not join our online community? We’re on Facebook – give our page a like and get access to the latest news, tips and support. You can also message us through Facebook.

Having trouble getting online? No computer or don’t feel like you have the know-how? We can show you how!

Would you and your neighbours like to learn more about how to get online or improve your digital skills? We can help set up an award winning ‘Coffee and Computers’ project in your community. Pop in once a week, grab a coffee (or tea) and chat with your neighbours and a local volunteer who can help you to use your computer, tablet, mobile phone and the internet.

Help test our services

Are you keen to influence and improve the services MHA provides to its tenants? If so, the Service Testing Team is the one for you.

The Service Testing Team is a vibrant group of mystery shoppers that test MHA services from the point of view of you, the tenant, helping us to monitor and improve the services we provide.

To date, the team have been busy reviewing the Rent Payment Line, Informal Complaints process and the standard of cleaning of internal communal areas, with many more checks in the pipeline.

As a member of the team you will learn a variety of transferable skills, make new friends and hopefully have fun!

The team meets every couple of months and you can attend to suit you. Transport can be provided or travel expenses reimbursed, with complimentary buffet and refreshments provided in recognition of your contribution.

If you too are inspired at the prospect of shaping the services that matter to you and you are an existing MHA tenant just contact Lorna Selmer on 01495 761142 or email

The door to MHA is always open so why not join the Service Testing Team? You too can influence, improve and inspire, just like our current members…

Help review our services

Our Tenant Scrutiny Panel consists of a group of tenants coming together monthly to scrutinise all aspects of services offered to tenants and make recommendations to the Board, to improve efficiencies within the organisation.

If you are interested in any of the above but find it difficult to access transport we will provide free transport or pay your travel expenses.

For more information contact Katie Needham on 01495 761096.

Focus groups

From time to time we hold focus groups where staff and tenants evaluate the performance of specific areas of our business. The people involved are those who have experience of the particular service and they will then work to achieve an outcome based upon their findings.

In the past our themed focus groups have made recommendations for improvements in the following areas:

  • Setting service standards for grounds maintenance
  • The use of the communal lounges in older person housing schemes
  • Redesign of the letters that tenants receive regarding their rent
  • Review of estate management services

The Engagement team will make contact with tenants who have expressed an interest in being part of a Themed Focus Group.

Loan a free laptop

MHA offer a free laptop loan scheme called ‘Computers in the Community’ to those who do not have a computer or laptop at home.

Help is also available from a number of organisations across Monmouthshire.

Tenant Network

Our Tenant Networks are held twice a year in our communities and is a celebration of community spirit with fun activities for all the family. You’ll also have the opportunity to speak to us about the things that matter most to you and support you in setting up groups in your community.

Keep an eye on our events calendar or Facebook page for more details and how to attend.
