MHA tenants Mr & Mrs Corner recently welcomed Minister for Climate Change, Julie James AM into their ‘state of the art’ bungalow in Midwinter Court, Bulwark.

Midwinter Court was one of two developments in Bulwark developed by MHA, in partnership with Welsh School of Architecture and Capsel, and received an injection of £3.1m of Welsh Government’s funding from their Innovative Housing Programme.

The developments create a combined total of 17 new homes comprising two house types; a terraced mews style house with a patio area for younger ‘first timers’ and courtyard bungalow for older people wishing to downsize.

MHA also collaborated with the 1st Bulwark Scout Group to transform their run-down scout hut into a modern space for use by the Scout’s and wider community.

Michelle Morgan, Director of Housing & Communities said:

“It was a privilege to show the Minister and MCC Cabinet Members around Midwinter Court and the newly refurbished 1st Bulwark Scout Hut.

The homes were built using sustainable methods of construction and low carbon embodiment, meaning the running costs should be cheaper for tenants.

A particular thank you must also go to Mr & Mrs Corner, who kindly welcomed us into their new home, it was a joy to see they had settled in so quickly and to admire Mrs Corner’s impressive cuddly knitting collection!”

They were also joined by local Monmouthshire County Council Members Councillor Sara Burch; Councillor Mary Ann Brocklesby; Leader of the Council, Councillor John Griffiths and Councillor Armand Watts.
